Collectable items are all the rage these days and are becoming an increasingly important part of home design and improvement. When thinking about adding collectable items such as figurines, plates, statues or artwork to your home you should consider a few of these tips.

Collecting can take a lot of time - You cannot expect to fill a collection of rare china figurines in a few weeks. It takes time to build your collection and you will have to do a lot of research along the way. Look into some of the existing masters of figurine making, such as Lladro, Royal Doulton and Royal Worcester and see some of their popular collections for inspiration on what to buy.

Be careful where you place your items - Don’t just buy a set of collectable items and leave them out on display where they can become damaged or are not properly appreciated. For collectable artwork ensure you have proper framing and for collectable items perhaps get a wooden cabinet made to store all of your precious belongings! This will prolong the life of your purchase and make it easier to appreciate.

Get involved in the community - Think of joining some collectors communities! There are numerous places where you can join forums and sites of home decoration entusiasts and get tips on how you can integrate collectables into your home. You would be suprised how many useful tips you will find!

Although figurines may not be for everyone, there are plenty of different forms of collectable and rare items that can add a great deal to your home decor.
