Your Health At Your Fingertips

Doctor visits are not always the favorite appointment of the week, but a necessary part of our life. Maintaining our healthy life allows us to keep up with our non-stop family.
Something that I have noticed within my own Doctor’s office are lists for specific patients and what each patient must have at each appointment - medications, journals, etc. With the thought of what Doctors ask for, a simple suggestion for readers is to keep your own health log.
Simple idea, yes, but if you are like me there is always something that I forget to ask when I go to the Doctor. I remember after the appointment and then have to call back. A log would help me to ask everything at once and can keep me on track for my discussion.
Here is a list of ideas to jot down in you health log:
Family health. List all issues that are within your family - genetic and heart issues, cancers, etc. These are concerns that might bring light to something within your current health.
Past health history. Listing all past illnesses, surgeries, or out-patient visits will help act as a quick reference.
Track medications. Track all medications, both over-the-counter and prescription, doses, and any issues you may have experienced while taking them. List any allergies you may have to medications as well.
Current health. Explain how you are feeling for this specific appointment, any changes since your last visit, and new concerns you might have; list dates and symptoms, so you can explain easily.
Create a log for each member of the family, so that it will always be readily available for either parent if an emergency exists. Let everyone in the family know where the log is located and on a regular basis make copies of your health logs just in case.
