Organizing Closets
By Dannie • Feb 24th, 2008 • Category: Simply Organized, SpotlightOrganizing any closet in your home can be a task. Removing all of the items, creating the pile of what you want to keep, what you don’t want, and then figuring out how to get it all back into the closet. A hassle, but if your closet overflows, then a needed hassle that must be done.
One closet in particular that can be a hassle to maintain is your bedroom clothes closet. Well, make it simple to organize and easy to maintain by making this the last time you clean it. What do I mean by that? Organize it with closet organizers that over time will save you time not having to constantly re-organize, only maintain.
So, how do you get your closet organized? Go with a closet organizing system.
Inexpensive closet organizers can be purchased at national chains like Lowe’s or Home Depot. ClosetMaid® Deluxe SuperSlide Closet Kit, like seen here, can start at around $82.00. The organizer will give you hanging space for all of your shirts, pants, and dresses, as well as give you shelving for folded clothing like jeans and sweaters. The built in shoe rack is also a plus.
Another great tip, use fabric or woven containers as drawers on the shelving if you prefer to not use a dresser. This will give you added space in your room. Use the picture as a guide to find locally in flea markets or yard sales.
Some easy tips:
- Always keep a step stool in your closet so items on the top shelf can be reached easily.
- Label baskets so that you know exactly what is in the basket before getting it down.
- Use a plastic shoe organizer over the door for loose items like mittens, gloves, and caps.
