Shop Green

As the holiday season kicks off on its last leg of a busy season, many people will begin to look towards the New Year and what they may have in store - marriage, new baby, a new job; tons of possibilities.
One thing the New Year will bring is New Year’s resolutions. The majority of us make them, but just how long do we keep them? I have set resolutions for many years for them to usually fizzle out within just a few months.
Well this year will be different for me. I realized that most of my resolutions didn’t last simply because I made difficult ones instead of taking baby steps. This year my baby step will be to go a bit more “green” with my purchases.
When I say purchases, not so much the item I purchase, but the bags that tag along. New, stylish totes are popping up all over and offer a great alternative to shopping bags. No more paper or plastic, just the reusable tote for packing the groceries.
Many grocers and retailers offer these totes as you walk in the door for very reasonable prices, but you can also order totes on-line in any color you want, fabric and more. Just perusing around the WWW I found tons of sites that have great ideas in totes. Take a peak at the links below and then come back to Simple Home Basics and tell us your thoughts.

Here are some statistics from 1 Bag at a Time:
1 Bag At A Time has sold 2,020,300 reusable bags. Over the next 2 years, these bags together will save 624 million plastic bags, which is enough petroleum to drive a car 60,609,000 miles and up to $343,451 in disposal costs. *** These numbers continuously update on their web site.
