Slipcover Rescue

slipcovers.jpgNow, now, don’t laugh. Slipcovers are not just about the crinkly, old plastic grandma threw over the sofa to keep dirty hands from leaving a stain. Slipcovers are a new and fun way to re-decorate the old furniture without a lot of expense and will bring life back into a room. Plus, it is easy to do within just a few hours work. Our tips will make slipcover changing as easy as customizing your o2 phones.

Colorful, floral designs to bold, solid colors are being used in fashionable slipcovers that no longer cry “disgusting and uncomfortable.” Wake up a dull room with a few bright colors and smiles will be had by everyone. Available for every type of home furniture, from sofas to the dining room, take the plunge and cover!

No need to do every piece of furniture you have, unless you want to. You can brighten a room just by changing up one chair or just the sofa. Mix a print in with solid colors already within your room, or vice versa. You can be subtle or as dramatic as you want.

Here is another great tip - which I also happened to have done in my own home - use tablecloths. Sounds silly, but I have high back tall chairs that go with my dining table and really had some difficulty finding a slipcover that draped well. To solve my dilemma, I purchased an inexpensive fabric tablecloth form a local discount retailer to drape over my chairs.

Just take the tablecloth, drape over your chair, pull a bit tight where the seat cushion meets the back of the chair, pull the sides of the cloth around the back and tie. Now, I didn’t have enough to make a bow, so I made it a big knot that I could fluff and it looks great. I was surprised that it worked as good as it did.

Now, of course, if you already have tablecloths available, use them to save on expense. I had to purchase because I am not a tablecloth person, so had none that could be recycled. You can also find great deals on tablecloths or fabric at fabric stores or flea markets. Remember, use your imagination and be creative with what you have and how you create your covers.
