An exciting social networking group is popping up all over cities, but it has nothing to do with the internet or people across the globe. It all has to do with those sitting right in your backyard or possibly sitting across from you at work. Neighborhoods come together, friends reconnect, co-workers can learn a little more about their colleagues all by sharing in this great monthly dine and chat that is making friendship a bit stronger.
Dinner clubs are sprouting up all over cities introducing people to the concept of reconnecting in person instead of on-line. Sharing great food and inviting conversation, clubs can be found locally by reviewing your community section or your local newspaper or possibly your neighborhood has a dinner club you can join - check with your POA for information.
Don’t have a local dinner club you can join? Don’t worry - create your own. Creating your own dinner club can be a fun experience that will offer all of your own special touches. Not quite sure how to organize your dinner club? I will share with you a few tips that have helped in creating dinner clubs, but just remember, use your creativity in getting your club up and going, just make sure that changes are made as necessary to keep your club fresh and inviting.
Tips and Suggestions
- Decide on the members you would like to join. Friends? Co-workers? Neighbors? Singles? Couples? A mix? This will all depend on how you want to use your club. Do you want to meet new people or share with your current friends wanting to experience in something new just like you?
- Decide on a day and time, along with frequency (weekly, monthly, every two months, etc)
- Determine if you will have themed dinners (finger foods, barbeque), international nights (Mexican, Asian), favorites, or a mixture of all
- Each member should host a dinner and create a schedule if needed
- Note upfront any food allergies
These tips are only a start. As your dinner club gets underway, you will have a ton of people to feed ideas too and to gain from. The most important feature of a dinner club - have fun! Make your dinner club the experience of a lifetime by learning and sharing with friends, both current and new. Don’t be afraid to let yourself go and enjoy!
