Non-Intimidating Entertaining for the Entertainer At Any Level

By Dannie • Jul 24th, 2008 • Category: Simply Entertaining

Whether you are a seasoned entertainer, or looking for a few tips to break into the world of entertaining, I’ve got the scoop on a night of enjoyment and fun, made easy!

As parents of two small children, my husband and I often feel the affects of the monotony our new life has created. It is difficult to entertain or even to attend any hosted function with the schedules these two make us keep! Long gone are the days when catching a movie or heading out to a play or concert was a more than weekly affair. Let alone hosting a party!

Possibly this reads out as if you had written it yourself, or perhaps there are other reasons you are being held back in your hosting. We are all busy people, and perhaps some of us lack the culinary know-how and we are not confident in our abilities. Undoubtedly the amount of time, work, energy and money it takes to entertain, not to mention the STRESS are all major deal-breakers for many.

However, I’ll see your stress and raise you one Game Night. My husband and I have started hosting them monthly with our friends!  It is a strictly “no-kids” affair so that we can all enjoy the fun uninterrupted.  Each month we invite a new set of friends from work, church, or the neighborhood.

But what makes it even more exciting, is that it is a dessert-only party, and everyone brings something to share.  I have been so impressed with the beautiful and delicious offerings my friends have brought.  And when the work is divided, there is no stress or mess for one person alone to deal with.  The best part is that everyone has a GREAT time, and when it is time Vanilla Bean Custardto go, the house is left spotless.  Further, no one has sat by the stove all night ready to crawl into the fetal because of the pressure!

It truly is the way entertaining should be.  Instead of time and stress, you, and your friends, get to enjoy each other and the fabulous food and drink.  It turns out that it inspires you for more, rather than committing to never host again because it is just too much.  Give it a try, it might be different then what you are used to, but it really is a way to make entertaining non-intimidating and FUN!

Want the perfect dessert? Here is what I made for the last game night. Try it, it is a sure winner!
