A Museum Family Outing

In my neck of the woods, winter is slowly hitting us. It has been cold; very, very cold, and the one snow I have seen in my sky melted as soon as it hit the ground. The unfortunate thing about cold is sometimes it is way too cold to have family outings, like picnics, walks in the woods, or even just sitting on the back deck and listening to the quiet.
There is one family outing that can be done without much cold hitting the skin and that is taking in your local museums. From arts, to science and history, museums will give you a great background on your city, county, and state’s life, while learning about the people behind exhibit.
In my state of Arkansas, I was able to pull up a comprehensive list online of all of the local museums, from city to state wide, over 190 total museums. The museums ranged from children, air, science, heritage, products, to art. Just reading from the list the first 50 museums could easily be driven to within 45 minutes.
Simple, inexpensive day trips, museums will offer your family more than visual stimulation, you can learn about local culture and historical events that happened, possibly right in your own back yard. There is so much fun to be had, your children will have no clue that they are learning too!
Do you have a new neighbor or family that has moved in? What a great way for you to introduce yourself and family, invite them along on a day trip to a local historical museum. It is a great way for them to learn about you and the history behind their new city. What a warm welcome.
Tip: Search online using your state plus museums - i.e. Arkansas museums - and see how many you can come up with state wide.
