Fun and Useful

Now that 2008 is here families are trying to find ways to keep everyone on track and in sync. From calendars, planners, and family books to store and keep information there are so many choices, but which one do you buy that everyone in the family will use? Well, I found something that everyone will use and I loved it the minute I saw it. Both useful and reusable this is a project for the whole family to do - the chalkboard calendar.
Chalkboard paint is nothing new. It has been around for awhile and has been handy to keep the little ones busy. When you purchase, most stock chalkboard paint comes in two colors - black and green; not exactly designer. Thanks to Martha Stewart, you can now paint a board in any color you want.
A great recipe that I found at Marthastewart.com can turn a weekend into some fun family time around your home. Using flat-finish latex paint, unsanded tile grout, a roller or sponge paintbrush, and 150-grit sandpaper you will be on your way to creating a chalkboard for fun or the largest family wall calendar anyone has ever seen.
Once you have your supplies, create to your heart’s content. Don’t just stop at wall calendars, message centers, and the doodle spot for your little one, be creative. Do you want to change out the colors of some wall flowers? Use a fun flower pattern on the wall with white chalkboard paint and each day color your flowers a new color.
Creativity is great! Have fun and enjoy.
